Summer is a comin’ (or is it already here?)

May 22nd, 2008

woo, well aint it as a hawt as a witch’s asshole? sheeeit, the weather in texas is heatin’ up more than ever.

there’s a bit of new in the music department…i’ve been getting heavily into sequencing everything i do using the monomachine. it’s so easy to get ideas out on it and i’m able to get away from the computer screen a bit. the 256 on the other hand isn’t getting a whole lot of use since i primarily got it to play my stuff live. i’ve just been working on getting a substantial amount of produced material to then break down for use using mlr/256.

the latest bits i’ve included in the player to the right.

now…let’s get ready for summmer!

summa time.

Latest Live Set Attempt

November 10th, 2007

I got together with a fellow em411er (one that is part of the em411.com community) and managed to come up with this

Our live set consisted of the following. I was on a monome 40h running MLR (a max/msp patch by Brian Crabtree) to play a set that I’ve customized/edited/adjusted many a time while donglekong played his monomachine sfx-6. MLR was beat synced to his monomachine and so we were off. This is what transpired.

Permanent Destination - Austin, TX -

September 25th, 2007

I’ve finally made it to a permanent residence. A job has been scored, tech-support (@ apple :/ we’ll see how that goes…I get free Macintosh apples and can wear pretty much any darn thing I so choooose. The liveset is becoming perfected and hopefully I’ll look around town for local venues who are willing to play some electro melodies…I’ve also managed to score my first piece of synth hardware. Known as the monomachine. I’ve yet to really dig into it, but it’s quite amazing. More stuff on the way. Random High School Pic found on MysPace

Update

July 10th, 2007

Good day all…Lots of things are about to change for me. I’ve been in Victoria, BC, Canada for close to 5 years. Been here for a lil’ longer than I had anticipated due to a girlfriend and my dad’s wish of me getting my landed immigrant papers. The papers are coming in and the girlfriend will be shipping out. All in all, I’m looking forward to getting out of here. My next move is looking to be Austin, TX, close to my childhood roots of San Antonio. I’ve been without a serious social network for sometime so the return to old friends will be appreciated.

I’ve got a setup to play my music in an improvisational way, live. I had posted about it previously last month, but I re-did it and decided I’d include some of the previous info about my life to give a general update of things. My live setup includes the following, a laptop, monome 40h, novation remotezero sl, a max/msp patch known as mlr, and Ableton Live to effect the output from mlr. Here’s my first set. It’s about 30 minutes long and uses a collection of old material. In the future there’ll be less mistakes and more energetic music to keep the dance floor moving.

Moved in!

May 10th, 2007

Hip-Hip-Hooray! Finally moved in, though I’ve been entertaining house guests since I moved in. Girlfriend’s friends from France have been sleeping in the room where my desk is so getting any creative work has been a real chore, non-existent in other words. Last Friday I received the 40h from http://monome.org. I’ve run it through a couple of lil’ jam sessions, but I’ll put it to the real test this weekend when the guests are gone and I can finally sit in a chair to play with it. Until then it’ll be more procrastination in the sun.

There are pics of my summer studio here on a blog I posted on em411

Spring has Sprung!

April 4th, 2007

The site has undergone some changes. I’m currently trying to setup a Live set to perform my tracks in a live atmosphere. Not a whole lot of new music has been uploaded since January due to some health conflicts, but a couple of tracks have been uploaded since my trip to Korea in February called “Catching a Drift” and “Korean Goods.” Though I was sick the majority of time, I managed to grab a few sound bits from Korea and these tracks utilize them. Enjoy!
